Information for Parents
CLOTHES AND EQUIPMENT:
Campers should wear casual, comfortable clothes to camp. Sneakers or athletic shoes are required. Sandals are inappropriate. If rain is predicted, send a raincoat or poncho. If it is cool, send a sweatshirt or a jacket. ALL ITEMS OF CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE LABELED CLEARLY WITH CAMPER'S NAME.
||Campers should bring the following items in a labeled carrying bag each day:
1. Two bathing suits
2. Two towels
3. Water shoes
4. Sweat shirt
7. Insect Repellant
8. Water bottle
We suggest these items be brought home each day. The camp is not responsible for personal items left in the bunks overnight. Facilities are available for changing in and out of bathing suits. If campers prefer, they may come to camp wearing a bathing suit and shirt and bring a change of clothes.
Pack a full DAIRY lunch each day (i.e.. peanut butter and jelly, cheese, tuna, etc.), including drink. Lunches will be refrigerated at camp. Please use only soft-sided lunch boxes. There is no room for large, rigid lunch boxes, and paper bags tend to get torn. We request that no shellfish or pork products be included in lunches that are brought to camp. The camp will provide daily afternoon snacks. Campers, especially younger ones, tend to get very hungry at camp. You may send a morning snack along with your child if s/he wants one.
| All food prepared by Camp Hadar (daily snacks, Family Night cookout, camping trips, all camp cookouts) is kosher. During the Parent/Camper Lunch (sessions 1 and 4), parents are invited to eat lunch with their campers. Parents may choose to bring their own dairy lunch or can have Camp Hadar place an order for pizza on their behalf. Pizza is considered dairy, but it may not be kosher.
If you wish to celebrate your child's birthday at camp, please call the camp office several days in advance to make arrangements. You are welcome to bring in a birthday treat and join your child for a bunk party. Only commercially prepared foods labeled "kosher" may be brought into camp.
PHONE CALLS AND CAMP VISITS:
The camp office is open from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. each day. If the staff person you wish to speak to is unavailable when you call, we will make every effort to return your call as soon as possible. Please feel free to call with any concerns, comments or suggestions. We want to work together with you to make your child's camp experience a positive one. Parents are welcome to visit camp. We request that you let us know in advance when you wish to come.
FAMILY NIGHTS AND OVERNIGHTS:
During the second and third sessions, families are invited to join campers for a picnic dinner and early evening camp activities. Older campers will be scheduled for an overnight during the second and third sessions.
During the first and fourth sessions, parents/guardians are invited to join campers for a picnic lunch and activity.
We do not permit tipping of camp staff. Where parents feel that they want to show their appreciation for the experience their children have had, a tax-deductible gift to the Scholarship Fund in honor of the staff member may be made.
