2 YEAR - Counselor in Training Program

Overview: To enable teens in the 9th and 10th grades to bridge the gap between camper and staff AND become strong, effective camp counselors.   

Junior C.I.T. - entering 9th grade

4, 6, and 8 week training sessions for campers entering the 9th grade.

2 day orientation (weeks 1 and 5)

Establish teamwork, cooperation, respect, trust & effective communication. Develop leadership skills through discussions & role-playing. Develop programming skills. Establish the role and responsibility of C.I.T.

• C.I.T. Internship (weeks 2-4 & 6-8)

Weekly internships with Senior Counselors and/or Specialists. Participation in all aspects of assigned group’s schedule.  Daily meetings for group discussion and continued training.  Implement and evaluate a special program for assigned weekly internship.  Weekly self-evaluation and Weekly evaluation.

Senior C.I.T. - entering 10th grade

4 , 6, and 8 week training sessions for campers entering the 10th grade.

Designed for graduates of Jr. C.I.T. program (Reduced Session Fee). Develop responsibility, decision-making, and teamwork through continued training. Assist in supervision of campers. Attend ALL staff training & evaluated by the C.I.T. Director. Partcicpation in planning and running a meaningful community service project to benefit a worthy organization to be determined by the Sr. C.I.T.s.
